Job Description

Underwrites loan files (conventional, FHA, and VA) to investor guidelines as assigned daily by the Underwriting Manager.


  • Underwrites a minimum number of loans per day based on goals set with manager
  • Maintains current guidelines for each investor and product type
  • Attends underwriting meetings
  • Reviews loan files with Underwriting Manager that do not meet program guidelines
  • Participates in assignments/projects as necessary
  • Assists in training and mentoring Jr. staff
  • Responsible for complying with the various rules, regulations, policies and ethical standards governing the financial services industry including compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.


  • High School Education
  • Specific job related training
  • 6-10 years underwriting experience



  • Government underwriting experience
  • DE/CHUMS for FHA loans and VA SAR preferred
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  • Analytical skills
