JOB SUMMARY: 
The Loan  Specialist, Sr. will ensure compliance with the Bank’s Policy and Procedures, as well as other federal and state regulations while creating and/or review of the larger and more complex commercial loan contracts, notes, etc., both with internal and legal counsel loan documentation for United Bankshares, Inc. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Uses advanced analytical, technical, and/or operational knowledge in support of business processes and services, including the review of complex documents, administration of system maintenance, problem research, investigations, Audit and Compliance support, and general data analysis.
•    Assists Commercial Lending Staff with the assessment of internally prepared and attorney-prepared documents to ensure adherence with basic documentation requirements, proper loan approval, and the Bank’s Loan Policy and Procedures.  After satisfactory review, communicates to Commercial Lending Staff, that loan documents are ready for closing and in compliance.  
•    Mentors less experienced members of the department to ensure they are completing documents in an accurate and timely manner.  
•    Knowledgeable about software products and services used in the department; capable of assisting users, performing maintenance functions, and trouble-shooting problems.
•    Assists management in maintaining complete and accurate records needed to document production and demonstrate compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
•    Works within existing controls and standards to identify/resolve problems, answer questions, educate users, and generate requested output.

Qualifications

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

•    High School diploma required. A college degree is desirable.
•    Minimum of two years work experience in direct commercial loan processing and administration is required
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required 
•    Ability to effectively interact with Lending staff and Operations management using both written and verbal communication
•    Demonstrate the ability to develop proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience as a Loan Specialist or comparable position. 
•    Attention to detail appropriate for complex, large dollar transactions with multiple variables that can change from deal to deal.
•    Organizational skills sufficient for the timely and accurate handling of large dollar loan requests in a fast-moving, deadline driven environment.
•    Familiarity with lending, credit policy, loan documentation, banking systems, contracts, and/or legal procedures.

•    Sufficient dexterity of hands and fingers to efficiently operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components.
•    Ability to converse and exchange information with all levels of staff within organization.
•    Ability to observe, perceive, identify, and translate data.
