Job Description

The Brokerage Operations Processor will be responsible for supporting the firm via the execution of routine and standard transactions according to the established processes and procedures of the Brokerage Department. The Brokerage Operations Processor will also be responsible for supporting any other functional areas such as account maintenance, money movement, report generation, and data entry to ensure that United clients receive excellent service through smooth operations.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Support Financial Advisors, Compliance Department, and other Brokerage Department employees. 
•    Articulate operational information and relevant application to stakeholders. 
•    Possess or demonstrate the ability to obtain investment/securities knowledge necessary for transaction and workflow execution. 
•    Stay up to date with pertinent changing industry regulations. 
•    Develop comfortable familiarity with the different products that we offer; stocks, bonds, mutual funds, annuities, insurance, advisory accounts, etc. 
•    Adhere to policies and procedures while meeting processing deadlines. 
•    Learn policies and procedures of the Clearing Firm. 
•    Develop proficiency with the Clearing Firm’s software.  
•    Process transactions across various functions: New Accounts (including IRAs, Qualified Plans, Estates, and Trusts), Transfer of Assets (including ACATs, ACH, Wires, Journals, etc.), Cashiering Funds Received (understanding IRA contribution limits & coding), and Physical Securities. 
•    Produce standard or ad-hoc reports as needed.
•    Support key commissions and accounting workflows. 
•    Research securities transactions such as purchases, margin, conversions/ splits, redemptions, or payments. 
•    Research tax inquiries, dividends, tender offers, and customer requests.
•    Coordinate mailings & statement messages.  
•    Provide deceased client and beneficiary support.  
•    Process unpaid trade extensions, NSF checks, stop payment requests, and trade corrections. 
•    Work with compliance on FINRA, MSRB, TRACE and opt out procedures.
•    Prepare General Ledger entries.
•    Gather data for review and use by other departments or auditors.
•    Prepare blotters using established templates.  
•    Apply cost basis as provided.  
•    Provide clerical support, including answering phones, processing mail, filing, faxing and scanning.
•    Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned by management.
•    Process emails from various shared mailboxes.
 

Qualifications

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

•    High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
•    Previous experience in Operations, Investments, Brokerage, or Accounting preferred.
•    FINRA licenses a plus.
•    Ability to attain SIE and other FINRA licenses within one year of employment is required.
•    Ability to provide attentive and thoughtful client service.
•    Ability to consistently represent the Bank in a professional manner.
•    Ability to work independently and multi-task. 
•    Strong time management skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
•    Self-motivated.
•    Ability to perform simple and complex mathematical calculations.
•    Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:  

•    Sitting for extended periods of time while working on a computer.
